givenNameCode in Swedish population register

An explanation of how to interpret the codes for givenName for Swedish persons.

Updated over a year ago

The code that gives a givenName consists of two digits (a person can not have more than 2 given names). The significance of the figures is shown in the following example.

"Eva Mia" - Mia is the given name, marked with 20. 2 indicates that the second first name is the given name.

"Kjell Olof Stig" - Kjell Olof is a given name, marked with 12. 12 indicates that the first and second first name is the given name.

"Hedvig Britt-Marie" - Britt-Marie is a given name, marked with 23 (first name with a hyphen is considered two names). 2 and 3 indicate that the second and third first names constitute the given name.

If there is no code for a given name, then there is no given name stated in the population register and thus not in SPAR.

In case there is no specified givenname then the code 0 will show.
